Visa Information

All attendees are responsible for determining their own visa requirements and for obtaining the appropriate visa to attend AAIC. AAIC does not influence, control, or participate in the visa application, review, or approval process conducted by embassies or consulates. Please visit the U.K. government's website to check if you need a visa to travel to the U.K.

AAIC will provide visa invitation letters to registered attendees upon request and through the registration process. A visa invitation letter does not guarantee visa approval.

AAIC recognizes that visa processing timelines and outcomes may vary. Refunds may be considered under the following conditions:

  • The registrant must submit official written documentation of visa denial from the issuing authority, or documentation demonstrating that the visa will not be issued in time to attend the conference.
  • All visa-related refund requests must be received by June 12; thirty (30) days prior to the start of the conference.
  • Requests submitted after this deadline, including those received during or after the conference, will not be considered.

Approved visa-related refunds will be processed in accordance with AAIC’s standard refund policy and may be subject to a $100 USD administrative processing fee. Refund requests submitted after the stated deadline, including those received after the conference has begun or concluded, will not be considered.

Avoid scams: bnetwork is the official housing provider of AAIC. Please note that hotel reservations made through any company other than bnetwork are at the exclusive risk of the individual or group, and could result in false reservations, additional charges, or no reservation at all. If you are contacted by any company claiming to represent AAIC or offering registration, discounted rooms or travel services, consider this as a scam and do not engage. Instead, please report it to aaic@alz.org

Discover London

London Between Sessions: A Guide for AAIC Attendees
Attending the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference in London places you in one of the world’s most vibrant and culturally rich cities. Even with a full program of scientific sessions and meetings, London offers countless experiences that can be enjoyed in short windows of free time. From iconic landmarks to free museums and relaxed evening entertainment, the city fits surprisingly well around a conference schedule.

One of London’s strengths is how compact and accessible its central attractions are. Many of the city’s best‑known sights are a short walk or Underground ride from one another, making spontaneous exploration easy after a day at AAIC.

The Icons That Define London
London’s landmarks are instantly recognizable and convenient to visit, even briefly. The area around Westminster is home to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, offering classic views along the River Thames. Nearby, Buckingham Palace represents Britain’s royal traditions and can be easily admired from outside at any time of day.

To the east, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London combine dramatic architecture with centuries of history, while the London Eye provides a 30‑minute rotation offering panoramic views of the city, an efficient and memorable way to see London from above.

World‑Class Museums
London is home to some of the world’s finest museums, many of which offer free general admission. The British Museum, National Gallery, Tate Modern, Science Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) allow visitors to step into collections spanning art, science, design and global history without advance planning.

These museums are particularly well suited for conference attendees: you can spend 30 minutes or several hours exploring, depending on your schedule, and still come away with a meaningful experience.

Evenings in the West End
After a full day of sessions, London’s West End offers a chance to unwind. Home to internationally recognized musicals and plays, the theatre district is centered around Covent Garden, Soho and Leicester Square, areas also filled with restaurants and cafés.

Markets, Dining, and Informal Gatherings
London’s food culture reflects its global population. Borough Market is one of the city’s most popular food destinations, offering everything from traditional British fare to international dishes.

Other lively areas such as Camden Market and Covent Garden combine food, shopping and street performances, creating relaxed environments for conversation and exploration after conference hours.

Green Spaces and a Change of Pace
Despite its size, London is notably green. Hyde Park, St James’s Park (pictured here), and Regent’s Park offer scenic walks, quiet benches and open views, providing a welcome break from indoor conference spaces. These parks are centrally located and easy to incorporate into an afternoon or early evening stroll.
